Holding on to Summer, When Everyone Else is Moving on to Fall

Is it just me, or does it seem like everyone has already moved on from summer? School started for us this week, and everything I’m seeing on Instagram is about fall decor, fall recipes, and cozy sweaters. I get it. I LOVE fall – it’s my favorite season! But it’s 95 degrees here today. It’s mid-August. I’m not ready!

I may be in the minority here, but as I’ve gotten older, and I’ve experienced how quickly my kids grow and change with each season, I want to live in each season for as long as I can. I want to savor the best parts of summer – peach season, farmer’s markets, pool days, and eating ice cream in the back yard. I want to fully LIVE for summer until the leaves start to change and the cooler weather leads to those blissful windows-open, fall candle burning weekends.

This year, I’m resisting the pressure to bring out my fall decor in August. I’m going to enjoy the summer wildflowers and the green grass in our backyard. I’m going to live in the season, because I don’t want to feel like I’m constantly rushing to the next one. If you’re feeling the same, you’re not alone. Long live summer!
